If you would like to present your ensemble in cities across Europe, as well as to perform in buildings of cultural and artistic significance and in historical residences, you can apply to the digital platform email@example.com until December 15, 2022. The selected quartets will work on the development of original projects on topics such as: music and art, disability, music and theater, interculturality, music and spaces and young audiences. The development of the project will last three years and will include 38 quartets with a total of 152 artists. The digital platform www.meritaplatform.eu will be the center from which all activities will take place.
MERITA, short for Music – cultural hERItage – TAlent, aims to improve access and participation in cultural activities, both in larger and smaller places, promoting European cultural heritage while strengthening the link between online and offline engagement. With the idea of this platform being a “promotional showcase for artists”, the goal of the “MERITA” project is to encourage the discovery of new places that will overcome not only geographical boundaries but also conceptual, artistic and cognitive ones. The organizers claim that the word “quartet” is also taken as a metaphor for an ideal society, a meeting place of different cultures, which through mutual dialogue builds beauty, taste aesthetics and a permanent artistic bond. In addition to the possibility of live performances, “MERITA” provides another very important source of information and a meeting place, which is the already mentioned digital platform www.meritaplatform.eu. It aims to contribute to the building of mutual cooperation, as well as to the improvement of culture and identity, by turning primarily to young people.
In this regard, Francesca Moncada, founder and president of the network, “Le Dimore del Quartetto” and the committee – Comitato “AMUR” introduces this project in the following words: “MERITA is the crowning of a European dream, music as a universal language capable of giving new life to places and spaces waiting to be rediscovered. A dialogue between cultures, arts, communities and territories for the creation of a circular economy and sustainable culture to support simple and proximity-based tourism. All this is MERITA and much more, with this project wins beauty for all.”
The platform will bring classical music and places of European heritage that are of cultural importance closer to a new audience. “MERITA” is a project of the House of the Quartetto (Le Dimore del Quartetto), which is co-financed by the European Union and includes 17 cultural institutions from all over Europe, among which are: Comitato AMUR, Milano (Italy),B & M Theocharakis Foundation, Atene (Greece), Beogradska Umetnička Nova Teritorija (Belgrade Artistic New Territory – BUNT), Belgrado (Serbia), Cadenza Arts Management Ltd., Budapest (Hungary), EuAbout Lab ASBL – European Association for Research, Educational, Cultural and Social Innovation, Bruxelles (Belgium), Europa Nostra, The Hague (Netherlands), European Historic Houses, Bruxelles (Belgium), Experimentadesign – Associação para a Promoção do Design e Cultura de Projecto, Lisbon (Portugal), Julian Cochran Foundation, Warsaw (Poland), Kolarac – Zadužbina Ilije M.
